After cruising past Rifle Range Road, a Malaysia-bound train will navigate on the periphery of the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, well-hidden from the public eye, until it crosses Hindhede Road via an overhead crossing. Standing 3.9 metres above ground, this overhead crossing is second of four between Bukit Timah and Woodlands.

The fourth and last overhead crossing between Bukit Timah and Woodlands is at Hillview Road, moments after a Malaysia-bound train passes the "Railway Bridge".
Behind the overhead crossing are Hillview Heights and Glendale Park condominiums.

After passing four overhead crossings, a Malaysia-bound train will traverse through five level crossings, the first of which is the Gombak Crossing at Gombak Drive.

The second of five level crossings along the railway track between Bukit Timah and Woodlands is the Bukit Panjang Crossing, at which a Malaysia-bound train crosses Choa Chu Kang Road near the Ten Mile Junction.

The third of five level crossings between Bukit Timah and Woodlands is the Mandai Crossing, at which a Malaysia-bound train will cut across Stagmont Ring Road. Singaporeans know this crossing as "Stagmont Ring Crossing" but from KTM's perspective, "Mandai Crossing" is its official name.

From the top of Blk 687D Choa Chu Kang Drive, one can see a Malaysia-bound train heading towards the Sungei Kadut Crossing.
The building with the blue roof is 28 Sungei Kadut Way while the Hindu temple Sri Arasakesari Sivan Temple is near the Sungei Kadut Crossing next to the railway track.

Sungei Kadut Crossing is the second last of five level crossings between Bukit Timah and Woodlands. Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate and Choa Chu Kang North town are in the vicinity of the crossing.

Kranji Crossing is the final significant landmark in the entire KTM railway system between Tanjong Pagar and Woodlands. From here till Woodlands, a Malaysia-bound train will be well-concealed behind thick vegetation, only appearing briefly behind an Esso petrol kiosk along Woodlands Road, before reaching the highly-secured Woodlands Train Checkpoint.
